Slingerland offered two colors of lacquer  for each antique finish.  In 1936 the following color combinations were available at no additional charge from the regular prices: silver & blue or gold & blue, silver & black or gold & black. other colors (sometimes more than two per drum) were cetainly applied, and this technique continued through the late 1960s, though the term "antique finish" appears in Slingerland catalogs only until 1938.

Beginning in the mid 60s, the inner ply was more often maple, blonde wood.
